The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) are a regulatory body who strive to support healthcare professionals on their register (Nurses, Midwives, Nursing Associates) to deliver high standards of safe care, in the UK. The NMC work to ensure that those on their register have the correct skills to practice with integrity, expertise, respect and compassion - and will take action if there are concerns over a professional’s fitness to practice. The values of the NMC are people, fairness and transparency; and these are supported by the Code of professional standards that Nurses, Midwives and Nursing Associates must uphold in order to practice effectively.
